An era
of cricketing marvel comes to an end. From now on, matches will be played.
Boundaries will be scored. Sixes will touch roof tops. But Indian cricket will
never be the same again. There will never be another Dubai sandstorm innings.
Sachin cannot be replaced although his records maybe broken. He has placed
himself among the legends of history in sports as well as mankind. In solid
ground, his wax statue stands in Madam Tussads wax museum in London. For
Sachin fans that will be the only place on earth where they will ever again see
Sachin in cricketing gear in life size if not alive. His pictures and videos,
as far as the internet is around the future generation will spend millions of
hours replaying them trying to learn the straight drive, the sweep shot and
many other classic cricket shots which even cricketing text books fail to
explain adequately. The nuances of batting cannot be demonstrated better by
anybody else than Sachin Tendulkar. The God of Cricket indeed! A masterpiece of God's creation himself.
The
name has seen its own share of accolades and controversies. On a larger measure
it now stands for a single minded dedication and hard work towards perfecting
one’s workmanship. For millions of Indians who are now adults he has been a
role model and continues to be one. Hardly have we ever seen any human being
show so much of dedication and sincerity towards his work if not play. He
played his work, and he did it artistically. Like a Da Vinci painting he
perfected his shots. A nightmare to bowlers, sad, not anymore. Sachin, your
last match was not the best and it could not have been worse with a bad umpire
call. But you have raised the bar for your future generation to take it to even
greater heights.
Thank
You Sachin! As an Indian, I stand tall and salute you. For giving hope to a
nation, that is forever in shambles. For being who you are despite all
distractions. For placing your country above everything else. And for those
wonderful innings to entertain us in times when the country was immersed in
depression. May you have a healthy and peaceful retirement life. Will never
forget you. Can never forget you! Thank You Sachin!
